Downing to hand in transfer request after 15.5m LFC bid rejected.

Stewart Downing is to hand in a transfer request today as all efforts by Liverpool to agree fee with Aston Villa have failed. Liverpool are ready to pay around 16m, however, Villa are reluctant to do business below 19m. Downing wants this move and has his heart set to joins the reds. It is hoped that this saga will not transpire into a Gareth Barry part 2.

The positive thing though is Kenny has shown earlier that he is not scared to flex his muscle. Liverpool are very confident this deal will go through and obviously the transfer request will lower Aston Villas ability to play hard ball with this deal.

Liverpool want this deal done and dusted in the next 48 hours, as they face a huge battle to sign Mata, who will surely be highly be sought after and Liverpool will have to win his signature by acting fast and showing the financial muscle.

Liverpool sign Charlie Adam

Liverpool have today signed Charlie Adam for around 8m, the player has passed a medical and will be unveiled by the Liverpool club shorty. It has brought an end to a long saga and Blackpool and Adam will be happy with the deal they have got. Adam had just one year left on his contract and so his value had declined so 8m should please them. Adam has more than trippled his wages and there are many who doubt he is worth 60k a week.

Only time will prove if this was a wise move by Kenny. Stay tuned for more news to follow.............

Mata, RED please!

Every Liverpool fan is glued to the U21 Euros taking place, first, checking out the next Stevie G and latest Liverpool signing Jordan Henderson but now in awe of the Wing Wizard Juan Manual Mata of Spain and Valencia.
This is not the first time the Liverpool fans hear his name and wish he was wearing a red shirt. Last two summers have linked Liverpool to Mata, especially when Fernando Torres openly admired Mata and said he is the player Liverpool need to convert draws into wins. Not many believed in Torres at that time, but I did, Mata was looking a star back then also. It was one big mistake by Real Madrid was to let him go, similar to how they let Eto leave to Barcelona. Mata praises has have been everywhere, his agent cannot stop receiving calls from the biggest clubs in the world. So the question finally arises is he going to be another Ashley Young? Silva? Villa? Are we again going to lose out on one of the hottest properties in world football?
Firstly, there are very strong rumors he would love to come to Anfield, but that is only possible if Liverpool are willing to go hard to get him. Like Henderson where Liverpool showed the desire to get the player, they have to  do it now. He should fetch a fee of 20m with salary of 70-80k a week. However, Liverpool’s chances of getting him rely a lot on Aquliani. He has to go to create wage budget for Mata. Until know there is not a lot of positive news on his departure and has returned to England and will join up with the player for Pre season training at Melwood.
If however, Liverpool push for a deal immediately after the Euros, Mata has given strong indications that he is willing to come. If Liverpool get Mata, they will certainly get a player who along with Suarez will be two players who know how to beat a man and create havoc in the opponents penalty area. He shall be the kind of player Liverpool need for teams that park the bus at Anfield.
Comolli and Dalglish have a very critical decision to make now they cannot keep Aquilani and wish for Mata. They have to fund a buyer for him and immediately after the Euros end have to rush in with cash and wrap the deal as quickly as possible. The Alexis Sanchez deal is keeping a lot of people busy who might spoil Liverpool’s chances of getting Mata. Time and Speed will get Liverpool one of the most sought after players in Spain.
Lets Trust Kenny ! Lets Hope The future is MATA ! YNWA

Why Adam and Downing? Kenny!

Finally, the much talked about and one of the most publicized transfer sagas of the previous season has come to its conclusion. Charlie Adam is on the verge of signing for Liverpool in the next 48hours in a deal expected to be around the 8m mark. Kenny has finally got his man but not alone, Kenny has also wrapped up a deal for Aston Villa Winger and star man Stewart Downing , many Liverpool supporters have taken to  this news positively but there is a section which has been doubting these signings .
Firstly, let me clarify, to all those who think Kenny has gone for second choice targets after failing on his top targets is utter rubbish. Kenny was clear, he knew the targets he had in mind and Adam and Downing were among the top 5. Adam was certainly in the top couple he wanted to bring, armed with a hammer of left foot and a mature head over his shoulder, Adam showed all what Kenny wanted to see. To those who doubt Adams signing, I would recommend you to go and watch Balckpools game at Old Trafford last season. Adams freekick along with set pieces alone showed what a class act he is. His distribution and Alonsoesque 50 yard passes will be a refreshing sight for all those fans that still miss Xabi Alonso.
Stewart Downing on the other hand, has been a regular in the premier league for a long time now. Playing regularly for England and having all the attributes to play as a wide man which Liverpool have been craving for many seasons. He was on Kennys radar for some time. Downing’s qualities are his ability to use the ball perfectly at most occasions and hardly giving it away, as wingers tend to do so often is lack decision making , taking his man on when a cross was needed or crossing when the box is empty. Downing is a player who knows how to keep the ball and his decision making is better than many wingers. When Liverpool go away to places where keeping possession is necessary, Downing will be the kind of player Liverpool want. He also has his eye for goal, scoring quite a few with his strong left foot.
Finally, the main thing which no one mentions and is hardly talked about, is not the greatness of a player but the synergy effect he creates with his fellow players. For example, Downing might fail at Arsenal right now as Arsenal hardly has a striker who can head the ball, where as Downing plus Carroll can be a nightmare for opponents. Whipped in crosses to arguably the best header in recent time is going to be an unparalleled force. Similarly pin point 40 yard long balls by Adam will bring Carroll into play and nullify opponents packed midfields. Its all about small combination and fitting pieces into a jigsaw puzzle and create a unique force which has its own special points.
Kenny knows what Liverpool side he is creating and by the looks of it, his priority is intelligent players who can pass and move and keep the ball. Keeping Carrol as a focal point and allowing Suarez to play in small gaps will be the way Liverpool approach. From what I can conclude Liverpool as building a very potent team, who will be very hard to take the ball off, a strong midfield that will bombard and attack the opponents which is the way to be successful in EPL. Kenny knows he is not building a team for Europe at the moment he needs for grit than flair, needs more consistency rather than spark. He is building a team to fight all 10 months and play for each other.
Times are bright for Liverpool ! Welcome Adam and Downing, I am sure you will be huge success at Anfield.

Why Henderson? Kenny!

Since the media went all bizzare about Liverpool paying over the odds to get a 20yr old Sunderland Midfielder, who has just once cap for England and has no previous credentials of being a major EPL superstar. I began to think that this story is just one more of the agents created and medias imaginative story. However, as a liverpool fan, I started to ask myself first who this guy is at all and what could he possibly bring to Liverpool. As the deal is now as good as concluded. I will share my opinion on Liverpool as a whole after this deal and also what Henderson will bring to us.

To understand this deal it is important to understand exactly where Liverpool are at the moment and what plans does it have to conquer the English game and then go back to the European game. So here is the reality, Liverpool have ended a mere 6th in the table, loosing out on a consecutive champions league spot. Next year marks the start of the financial fair play, which means Liverpool will not be able to spend a lot in the transfer windows after this one. So Liverpool had a plan, the plan is simple spend all you can in this window as it is a last chance to spend big without any restrictions. So Kenny along with the decision makers agreed to buy big this summer .

Kenny masterminded the whole plan, which had the following criteria.

- Buy Young !
- Buy British
- Buy Liverpool mentality
- Buy pass and move players
- Pay almost any price to get your Prime targets.

Another issue was Kenny knew its not possible to prize all young stars to Anfield given the recent competition, so Kenny decided he had to show intent, the first transfer this summer, had to be a signal to all English young players and their agents that all what they have been hearing was not a joke, Liverpool is going to be the place to be for young British players. Now as the deal for Henderson is almost done, many other English players which fill the above criteria will be dying to joining Liverpool and will give Kenny an edge over rivals. Its simple if you want to be Big Boy in the Block you have to lay down a marker! Kenny has certainly again showed he means business.

Now coming down to Henderson, A young guy with good reputation among his team mates, is built for the big stage, his past two season at Sunderland prove that he is a fighter, a great strong character and a real leader, at tender age of 20 he got his England call. But the question still stands why would Kenny choose him over the established Internationals available.

The answer is simple, Kenny is building for a long era of success and not few seasons of one or two trophies, Kenny wants the old Liverpool back. He is looking for young players who have the talent and will be at liverpool for atlease half a decade if not a decade. He wants to bring players who have the ability to play simple football pass and move with the passion and desire of the English game and that is the only way he sees Liverpool to get back the English domination. His first target is get the 19th title and that means a lot to him. He is not looking for wizards on the wings, but looking for pass and move footballers who let the ball do the talking.

What this deal also proves is Kennys eye for talent, Henderson is young but has all the potential to be a big player, Kenny trusts in his eye and we should do the same. What I can assure all Liverpool fans is Kenny is targeting the EPL and he knows the fans want it. Forget the prices 5m here and there, Kenny is focused to take the 19th title banner to Old Trafford along with the 5 UCL one, next year. Just sit back and relax and see the King reign supreme and let the Sirs bow down in front of him.

Liverpool 2 years from now.

After todays defeat at west ham, I couldnt help but notice a tiredness in the legs of our players, most of them looking slow and slugigish. So I asked myself one simple question, how many of these players will be in the liverpool team after 2 years.
The results were quite alarming, If a maximum age of 31-32 is taken as a player to play at his prime in the liverpool first team. We would be without Gerrard, Carra, Poulsen, Kyrgikos, Maxi, Kuyt , Aurelio, Konchesky. That would make it 8 players in the current squad who need to be replaced in the next 2 years. Then I asked myself how many players in the current squad would not make it into the squad of the top 4 teams and I made a list of them as well, they are skrtel, Lucas, Wilson, Spearing, Ngog, pacheco, Gulacsi. So these made a total of 7 players not up to the mark ( some of these have potential, but still not good enough to take a place in the first team of top 4 )
This made is a total of 15 players needing replacement in 2 years time, if we need to be and contest for the top 4. The sales of the above players might fund 7-8 good players we need. However, FSG have a big job on their hands. Givning funds for the remaining  8 players in 2 years means around 4 players a year.
If on average a good players costs 15m , then we need atleast 60m in the next summer and the summer after that. Hopeing King kenny gets it right in the market. He might not be very open in public but he knows Gerrards best is past him. He may still be great but isnt getting better now.
As the crucial 30 yr mark crosses, the player starts to decline its natural. We need to plan ahead. I hope the brains behind liverpool at working on this. We cant do miracles in days, expecting King kenny to get us in the top4 with the current squad is not less than a miracle.
Lets be practical, lets give the owners some time, let them bring us young and best talents. With the stewardship of the King we can only go up. Times like today will come along the way, but until King assembles a real Liverpool team, we just have to take these tough days patiently.

An open letter to King Kenny.

Dear King ,

I write to you at a time when there is a renewed optimism around the red half of Merseyside. The messiah has arrived and the second coming of the King has finally happened. We have just drawn our game against Everton and there is renewed optimism clearly visable in the eyes on the players. Before sharing my views, I would obviously mention that there is no one more knowledgable than our king himself. However, my heart still wants to share few things with you.

I used to be a manager of a local football club, I made the club from scratch, we did amazingly well in our local league, the one thing I learnt around there was, Football team is made of the field. I realized with below par players I could beat the good teams, again, the victory was made off the field. It so happened that I started to read the players and the way the conduct themselves, I looked for ways to bond them with each other. Finally, I conducted different off the field programmes to make them feel closer to each other. Soon the until had been converted into gladiators who fought for each other. If someone got sick, we all went to help him, if someone had a family problem, I was the first one to help out. Slowly, I was the first person the players would look up to in any problem.

What I didnt know was that there was this strange bond in our team, which would do miracles on the field. Slowly, when we went to games, I saw if one player lost the ball and did a stupid mistake, the player next to him would make it his obligation to get the ball back for his friend and so he could help out his mate. These things became so evident that, slowly, there was no moaning on a stray pass, but instead a clear telepathy began to show. We felt so united that even the runs became telepathic. The strange thing is that everything was being done off the field.

Then came the day I had a game against a very old club I used to play for but I had to quit and in views of many I was hard done by. They were champions in the league, before playing them I told the lads, " All I ask you today is that when you go off to sleep tonight, there shouldnt be a single bit of power in your limbs, make sure u have exhausted it all " and that " I see 11 lions ready to fight till the last minute". What happened after that was history, we beat them 2-0, the players played for their lives. I never had known, but the players told me after wards , they played this game only for me.

That day I knew, football is not just drills and practises on the filed. Its a lot more, a football teams is a combination of die hard mates who would give their sweat and blood in every tough time for each other. I know in the mordern game that might be difficult to achieve. However, I think the key factor to being a good club and a great club is this factor I already mentioned.

Today I read in the papers about how you went to the academy and bought Suso and Coady to Melwood in your car. This is exactly what we were missing for the last few years, I have noticed, many players going out into the press and calling their manager as their father. I remember many players calling Mr. Wenger a father, also Sir Alex a father. When was the last time a Liverpool manager was called their father by a liverpool player?

From what I see now the tables have turned, we are going back to the basics and you are the best person who can do that. Bulding a football team which has humans involved, until the time robots take over football teams. There has to be team and man management. There has to be a Bond, a unbreakable one.

Lastly, I wish you all the best for the next few games. I hope you can read this one day, I know the chances are negligible. Anyways, I will keep writing maybe one day I get through to you.

All the best My King, Our King!
